Local Music, Wisconsin Brews, and BBQ!
Want to witness some world-class barbeque? Downtown Whitewater’s Pig in the Park State Championship BBQ Cook-Off is just the festival! Join us this Friday and Saturday, June 14–15, for the excitement of approximately 30 teams competing for a prize purse of $4,600 at beautiful Cravath Lake Park in Downtown Whitewater.
New this year! The People’s Choice Competition, held from 6 to 8 PM Friday, allows attendees to purchase tickets, sample world-class barbeque, and then award their tickets to their favorite teams. The top three People’s Choice Award recipients will win $250, $100, and $50 respectively.
Pig in the Park features free admission, live music, Chops Motorcycle Show, activities for the kids, crafters, and more. Those who wish to enjoy corn on the cob, hog wings, pulled pork and shaved ice or taste a selection of beers or wines from Staller Estate Vineyard and Winery need only purchase BBQ bucks tickets on site.
Teams compete in all four Kansas City Barbecue Society (KCBS) sanctioned categories — chicken, pork ribs, pork and beef brisket — to be considered for Grand Champion. The judging for the main event is on Saturday afternoon, and awards are announced from 3:30 to 4:30 PM on the music stage.
KCBS, the world's largest organization of barbeque and grilling enthusiasts with over 15,000 members worldwide, sanctions over 400 barbeque contests coast-to-coast throughout America every year.
